Dave Perry and his team from Northrop Grumman took first place in the 2008 BIG Team Regatta, a fund-raiser for the Treasure Island Sailing Center'sl youth and adaptive sailing programs. The regatta, founded 4 years ago by Group Experiential Learning (GEL) and OCSC Sailing, raised close to $42,000 which will fund program scholarships for over 400 children.

In addition to Northrop Grumman, 6 other boats competed in the six-race regatta representing PG&E, Mechanics Bank, Lennar, Malcolm Properties, Almar Marine and Hanson Bridgett. With the exception of Mechanics Banks, all of the corporate entrants were returning past sponsors of this great non-profit fund raiser.

The teams provided some extremely competitive racing. Defending champions, PG&E fielded two teams for the second year in a row and both boats made an impressive showing and joined Northrop Grumman for a podium finish. Mechanics Bank and Lennar/Malcolm had an extremely tight battle for 4th place with Almar squeaking past Hanson Bridgett to take 6th on the tie-breaker.
